Make Polkadot accessible for all

Start using Polkascan Mission

Polkascan Foundation’s mission is to make Polkadot accessible & understandable

Polkadot is a scalable, interoperable & secure network protocol for the next web. Polkascan Foundation facilitates dissemination of Polkadot’s data to new audiences.
Polkadot envisions a Web where our identity and our data is our own – safely secured from any central authority. Polkadot is a network protocol that allows arbitrary data to be transferred across any type of blockchain. Polkadot is a true multi-chain application environment where things like cross-chain registries and cross-chain computation are possible. Polkadot can transfer this data across public, open, permissionless blockchains as well as private, permissioned blockchains. Polkascan Foundation researches and develops novel ways to make multi-chain data accessible and understandable for broad and new audiences.

Activities

Technologies

Research & Development
Polkascan Foundation researches, develops and maintains open-source software that furthers its mission to make Polkadot accessible and understandable. The software includes data analytics applications, data extraction applications and various software libraries to interface with Polkadot’s key technologies, such as Substrate and SCALE. Our technologies have a general-purpose nature and have served as a blueprint for many successful other teams in the broader ecosystem.

Economic Analysis

Publications & Reports
Polkascan Foundation aspires to be the Accountant and the Bureau of Economic Analysis of the Polkadot Economy. The foundation applies its research and technologies to report on the state of the Polkadot economy. The foundation’s publications use micro-economic and macro-economic analysis methods to gain insight on the financial performance of all economic agents in this broader multi-chain economy.

Governance

Steward of Web3
Polkadot envisions a Web where our identity and our data is our own – safely secured from any central authority. Polkascan Foundation positions itself as one of the stewards in the broader Polkadot ecosystem to protect and develop towards the mission of this new Web, called Web3. The foundation aims to have an active voice through the formalized governance mechanisms in the broader Polkadot ecosystem.

Let’s get technical

Explore Polkadot

General-purpose open-source Explorer
Polkascan Foundation develops and maintains a publicly available instance of a general-purpose open-source explorer. The explorer disseminates the highest granularity of data found on the Polkadot Ecosystem’s Relay Chains and supported Parachains.

Data Aggregation Explorers
Polkascan Foundation aspires to maintain publicly available instances of fit-for-purpose data aggregation explorers, focusing on tailored verticals or specific target audiences.

Transparency

Open Data & Technologies
Polkadot envisions a Web where our identity and our data is our own – safely secured from any central authority. As a central authority Polkascan Foundation aspires to be as transparent as possible about its technologies and data it disseminates. In order to safeguard transparency, the foundation allows for verification of the data it produces in its publications. The foundation differentiates itself by maintaining open-data sources, open-source software that produces and dissemminates these data and/or full disclosure of third-party data sources.
